On this week’s Warp/Weft Wednesday we’re taking a closer look at our Brushed Chambray group. Woven in Japan from 100% cotton, our Brushed Chambrays weigh in at 7.3oz/yd and feature a double brushing process on both sides for maximum comfort and warmth.
.
Season after season we feature our classic chambray, and at this point we consider it to be as standard as Oxford cloth. But during a visit to one of our partner mills last year, this newer chambray piqued our interest. It's heavier, more colorful, far softer, and ultimately far more special than its classic yet common progenitor. It was so good we picked up five colors for the season. Enter: the brushed chambray group.
.
After the first samples were made we at team GV knew they were something special. Their ultra-soft hand makes them irresistible to wear, and their uniquely textured colors meant we had nothing like them in our closets. Now, these Brushed Chambrays are seen almost daily at the GV office in New York.
.
With such special fabrics we asked our factory to take particular care with their construction. For example, we opted for flat felled sewing for the side hem and arm seams. Flat felling is stronger and sleeker than alternative sewing methods, but it’s not easily achievable for fabrics heavier than 6oz. Shoulders are top stitched for added durability and cleaner look as well.
.
Overall we find the Brushed Chambray group to be some of the best shirts we’ve made, and judging by remaining inventory, you all seem to agree! But if you missed out on a color or size, fear not. Each fabric is available through our Made To Order program as well, where you can have shirts made to your size and design specifications. #MadeInUSA
